words to wake up to

So here's what I've woken up to the last couple of days.

"Hi Mom! I need hand, hand, face (our family's slang for needing your face and hands cleaned). I ate... "
choose one: honey, candy, ice cream (the whole carton was sitting on the table), sausage (frozen straight from the freezer and smothered in ketchup), ice cream sandwiches, popsicles.

"I gave myself a haircut."

I think I need to stop sleeping in. Though luckily besides hair on the carpet I can't quit tell where the haircut took place. I think I should probably lock all the scissors away too.

Happy

Just got back from a fun activity with the young women of our ward. How I love them!!! They bring me such joy. We had a hilarious time tonight making wedding dresses out of toliet paper. They turned out surprisingly good. I wish I had my camera to show you how talented these girls are.
I'm home now, thinking I should go to bed. Lizzie is sleeping in the bouncy chair at my feet. Dell is at the other computer. Henry is upstairs asleep. The curtains are open and it's a perfect night outside. I should go out and admire the stars. And I am content. Happy. Life is good. And here's two random pictures to prove it. (They had to be random because on the laptop all I can access is the name of the picture and my brain doesn't remember what cmz.2000393.jpg is.) :)

Cute little Lizzie all dressed up for her first Sunday at church. Isn't she cute!!!Lizzie in her sling. My dear friend Sarah from medical school days has lent me her baby slings for Lizzie. THANK YOU THANK YOU Sarah! Lizzie lives in her sling when we are out and about and you wouldn't believe the comments I get on how cute they are. I feel cute and stylish when I wear them. I've decided a new baby in a cute sling is the ultimate accessory and one of the few I enjoy wearing. Doesn't she look happy all squish up in there? We go on walks, grocery shopping, music class, and even just around the house in the magic sling.

so you see, life is good. Blessed as they say here in Texas. Blessed, yep, that's us. Hope you all are feeling blessed too.

What do Winnie the Pooh and Henry have in common?

Henry has a fascination with honey. An hour after we brought Lizzie home from the hospital we couldn't find Henry anywhere. We called and called and searched and searched and were starting to get really worried. Then I saw some little feet backing out from under a table we have with a floor length tablecloth on it. It was Henry. When I peeked under the table to see what had keep him quiet (must have been a "no" for him not to answer our calls) I found the honey bottle and a large puddle of honey on the carpet. That was the beginning of the honey battles. We've had honey on the couch, honey on the table, and today Henry walked in to where I was feeding Lizzie with honey from hand to elbow and dripping everywhere. (There was a lake of honey in the kitchen and honey footprints leading from there to Lizzie's room.)

Does anyone have any ideas of how to lock up honey? We've tried high places (there was a chair next to counter today that allowed the honey to be grabbed) and time outs and loss of honey privileges. Any ideas? I use honey to make bread and so don't think I can ban it from the house entirely, but I don't think the carpet can take much more honey treatments. Though luckily it seems to come out great with just lots of warm water. (and I think Henry's skin is looking great from all the honey treatments its had.) Please send any and all ideas. I'm thinking of a large Tupperware that Henry can't open, but not sure it will work with our little honey liberator.

fun with grandma and grandpa

My parents came a week after Lizzie was born to see her, help out, and just enjoy being together. It was so great to have them look after and spoil us. Thanks so much for coming mom and dad! Here's some pictures of the fun things they did with Henry while they were here.

Guadalupe River. Who doesn't love throwing rocks at the Guadalupe? I love this picture my mom took of Henry. It really captures his enthusiasm as he tosses rocks.
San Antonio Zoo and the train.
Mission Espada. Where Henry told stories and made up games. Another great face. This kid sure posed well for the grandparents. Why doesn't he pose for me?

Ice cream!
It was a great visit. Though I think my favorite moments were watching Grandpa and Henry fighting bad guys with lightsabers. Lizzie sleeping in Grandma or Grandpa's arms (she never was put down when they were here.) And getting lots and lots of naps. Wahoo!!!

Elizabeth Mei

Elizabeth Mei was born Jan 22nd at 8:08 am She weighed 8 lbs
3 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long (just an inch shorter than her brother
and 9 0z smaller-- though she seems much littler than he ever was.)
She looks a lot like Henry though-- round face, good amounts of light
colored hair, and a sweet little chin.

She's named Elizabeth after my mother and me (and because we really
like traditional names) and the Mei is Chinese. It means beautiful
and little sister and since Henry was convinced that she needed to be
named "little sister" it seemed appropriate.

Labor and delivery went very smoothly-- hooray for epidurals! and I'm
feeling great now. Lizzy is doing well. She sure sleeps a lot and
her squeeks are really cute. Henry likes her lots and keeps exclaiming "she's so cute!" He was most amazed by her fingers "those are so little!" and jumps when she squeeks.

Look how little she is!!!

the belly

There's been some requests for pictures of my tummy. Here it is. It's huge!

This picture is from our trip to the zoo on Saturday. Since my OB told me "you could go any day now" on Wednesday we've been upping my physical activity in the hope that it will induce this little girl to make an appearance. So far, nothing. But we're working on the flagstone patio this afternoon and going out for Thai food. If that doesn't work, I'll just have to be patient for another week or so I guess.
